We noticed some users attempting to use the compact shears on heavy-duty expandable garden hoses and want to clarify the design boundaries. The image attached shows a clear failure point (and the type of hose that causes it).

Why it broke (as seen in the photo):
This is a heavy-duty expandable hose. As highlighted in the close-up, it contains a rigid, thick inner tube/linear designed to handle high water pressure. Compact multi-tool shears (Micro-shears) have precisely calibrated micro-pivots engineered for light-duty, portability-focused tasks. When you attempt to clamp the jaws onto oversized, rigid composite pipes (often wider than the jaw opening itself), it creates extreme mechanical stress at the pivot point, causing a structural fracture.

✓ Ideal Use (Design Capacity): Thin ropes, cardboard, packaging materials, fabric, thin rubber, paper, etc.
✕ Not Recommended: Heavy-duty reinforced expandable hoses, metal wires, solid thick plastics, or any oversized rigid tubing.

Broke my sheers off cutting a garden hose first time I used it.

This NexTorch Pioneer is a BEAST! well made high quality steel and components. I'm impressed with the large Rescue Shears great feel and easy to grasp. It's no joke. The needle nose pliers also impressed with the quality and feel. Very strong, sturdy and versatile. Expensive Yes! But worth every penny.

This is a very comprehensive and sturdy EDC emergency multi-tool. All the blades are sharp and strong, the pliers work well and have a good grip, the scissors but as they should, and screwdrivers are nice to have. It is a very large EDC, maybe even too large for an EDC. I keep this in my 4x4 and it comes in handy. The colors are very appealing and the metal feels quality. The only thing that is a negative is the price as it is a little high compared to more known competitors.

Really awesome multi-tool! I own a few of Nextorch’s flashlights, and they are undoubtedly the best flashlights I’ve ever owned, so I just knew I was gonna love this tool.It’s extremely rugged and should perform really well even in the harshest environments. The scissors/cutters tool is super sharp and cuts through plastic and cardboard like butter. The pliers are obviously made with great quality and the teeth won’t start to shave off after just a few uses like cheap multi-tools.This comes with an oxygen tank wrench, which I’ve never seen before on one of these, so that’s pretty cool. It also has a replaceable slot that comes with a flathead attachment, but can be swapped out with the included handcuff key attachment.The two knives, the flathead, and the oxygen tank wrench can all be accessed and used without opening the main body of the tool, making it more practical and easier to grip.Comes with a carrying case with a snap buttoned strap on the back, allowing for several different options of equipping it.Overall I feel like it’s worth the money. It’s heavy and durable, and feels like it could easily outlive my multi tools from big named brands.

You’ll notice in one of my photos there are two boxes and one of them is missing the multitool. When my package originally arrived the seal had already been broken and the tool itself was missing. I contacted Amazon and also reached out to Nextorch about the issue. To their credit, they were very helpful and sent a replacement unit so I could properly evaluate it.I already own a few products from Nextorch, including a headlamp and another multitool, and they’ve consistently impressed me. This one continues that trend.The MT20 feels extremely solid in hand. The stainless steel construction and stonewashed finish give it that rugged “tool first” feel that a lot of EDC enthusiasts appreciate. Nothing about it feels cheap or loose. The tolerances are tight, the tools deploy firmly, and once opened they lock into place with confidence.The pliers are strong and well centered, and the replaceable wire cutters are something I’m always happy to see on a multitool. When you actually need cutters in a pinch, it’s nice knowing they can be replaced instead of the entire tool becoming disposable. The spring-loaded design also makes repeated use easier than some multitools that require constant squeezing.The scissors are another highlight. They’re surprisingly capable and cut through things like cord, packaging, and light materials without any trouble. We always appreciate that the knife was sharp right out of the box.There are also many thoughtful features built in: a glass breaker, bottle opener, cutting hook, saw, ruler, oxygen tank wrench, and even a universal handcuff key. Some of these clearly point toward law enforcement or first responder use, but they’re also handy additions for general preparedness and outdoor use.For everyday carry, it’s definitely on the heavier side compared to minimalist multitools, but that weight also reflects the durability and full-size capability of the tool. The included holster helps with carry and feels sturdy enough for regular use.This is one of those multitools that feels purpose-built rather than gimmicky. The tool, with its replaceable cutters, strong pliers, and sharp blade, seems purposefully designed for practical use, not just for carrying.For someone who appreciates everyday carry gear, this multitool fulfills many requirements and exudes a sense of seriousness.

This is not one of those multi tools packed with ten million tiny gadgets you will never use. No corkscrew, no toothpick, none of the filler extras. Instead, it focuses on a handful of tools and does those very well, which I honestly prefer.The scissors and shears are the first tool you access when unfolding it, and they are serious cutters. These are not flimsy little safety scissors. They feel reinforced and strong, easily handling paper and cardboard. I would not be surprised if they could even manage some light metal cutting.The needle nose pliers swing out slightly to the side, which makes one handle a bit larger than the other while using them. That actually ends up being helpful because it gives you a more secure grip. They also have replaceable cutting blades at the base of the jaws, which is a great durability feature.The bottle opener has a clever design that uses a palm closing motion to pop the cap. It took me a moment to figure out, but once it clicked I really liked the design.The knife blade is a little short, but it feels thick and sturdy. You also get the option of a flat head screwdriver or an interchangeable handcuff key. I will admit I had to fight the urge to keep the handcuff key attached just because it looks cool, but function won out in the end.There is a screw on belt clip, but the real standout is the sheath. The reinforced shape and quality materials make it feel durable and secure. Usually multi tool sheaths are an afterthought and need replacing, but this one is genuinely well made and feels like it will last.Overall this is a well built tool that focuses on doing a few jobs very well instead of overwhelming you with gimmicks. If your main goal is practical function and solid design, this is a great choice.

What I’ve come to expect from Nextorch is rugged, durable quality construction and well-thought-out, purposeful products. This multi-tool certainly lives up to expectations. The tool feels very solid in hand, and each tool locks definitively into position with a solid “click”. It was a little stiff at first, as is to be expected of a tool with tight tolerances, but it’s breaking in nicely with use. There is zero slop in any of the hinges or pivot points, and it’s a very “solid” feeling product, with a bit of heft to it. Personally, I prefer a smaller, lighter-weight multi-tool for EDC, but if I were using this on the job, I’d definitely appreciate its more substantial build/size. The scissors, pliers, blade, and saw are the 4 main tools that I’ll use the most, and each is genuinely useful. Both pliers and scissors are spring-loaded with good spring strength for 1-handed operation. The saw and blade are extremely sharp and positioned well on the tool for ease of use. In my small-ish hands, the scissors and pliers aren’t the most comfortable feeling to use, but certainly functional. Ergonomically, they’re a little awkward feeling, but they’re definitely capable. In larger hands, I don’t think they’d feel awkward at all. The seat belt cutter, O2 bottle wrench, cuff key, and wire tie snips are all well engineered and suggest that this tool is directly marketed towards 1st responders and LEOs. For folks working in that capacity, this is a fantastic choice and is by far the most purpose-built multi-tool I’ve come across.

I didn't think I would ever find multi-tool that would take the place in my pocket where my titanium charge normally is, but here I am! I was very impressed the moment I started to open the package. It comes in premium packaging and really meant to show off what you're about to get and is quite a bit of showmanship for some packaging. It comes with a sheath and what looks like a handcuff key you can swap out if you wanted with one of the other tools. The main thing for me that got me carrying this now everyday is an actual really useful pair of scissors that is equipped on this tool while still having a nice size set of pliers at the same time. The little cable cutter is ultra handy. One flick of the lock mechanism and it springs open and you can cut zip ties, light wire or just about anything you could clip with a pair of side cutters. They're super quick to deploy without having to even unfold the tool. There is not a lot of other tools, but really they only reason I normally use a multi-tool is the pliers, The blade and the scissors. This is the first multi-tool that has got all three of those perfected in one single unit. It does have some screwdriver bits, bottle opener/can opener and a sawing blade. But the pliers and the scissors are where this unit really shines. You can cut through leather with these scissors, and yet they are still delicate enough to cut out a paper template which I have already done multiple times. If one of the other big brand companies made something like this it would cost twice as much so this is a very good value. It's a good looking tool and also surprisingly not overly heavy either considering all that it offers. I will definitely keep nextorch on my radar let's see what goodies they come out with next!

The main feature of this product is its scissors and pliers functions. Thanks to the multi-tool's ideal size, the force from your hand transfers exceptionally well to these two functions. The other features are also decent, and I especially like the addition of the glass breaker tip.

This is a great multi-tool if you’re looking for a little more diversity than the run of the mill Leatherman. It’s centered around a really great pair of emergency shears and the Pioneer model has the glass breaking nano-ceramic bead (pictured in the last photo) which is always a plus.I’ve used this several times since receiving it and I don’t have any complains yet, especially with the zip tie cutter that locks back into place. It makes things really easy if you work in a place where you have to do a lot of truck unloading or retail work with a high count inventory, and everyone is always curious once you flip that thing out.It’s worth the money. There is a tiny bit of play with the pliers but at the end of the day, it’s a tool. It’s meant to be used and thoroughly enjoyed and that’s exactly what it’s been doing for me.

The Nextorch Pioneer multi-tool is a nice multi-tool. It is made of stainless steel with an attractive stone-washed look. The tool feels well sturdy and well-made. It is advertised as lightweight, but it has some heft to it, weighing in at 268g (0.59lb).The tool comes with a nylon carrying case with a snapping belt loop and the tool itself has a belt clip, so it can be carried on pants/belt with or without the carrying case.The 14 tools in one make this multi-tool good as part of an EDC or emergency kit. I really like that the tool has full size rescue shears. This tool will be a great addition to the emergency kit I keep in my truck.I have several multi-tools ranging from relatively expensive to super-cheap. I'm not a knife/multitool connoisseur, and this is probably not a big deal, but I believe the advertised 54 HRC hardness is relatively soft and, for knives, is indicative of lesser expensive knife blades that need frequent sharpening. All my multi-tools felt very sharp when new - and the Pioneer is no exception. If the knife blade and shears hold up, then I will be very happy with this tool.I like the Nextorch Pioneer, however it is a little on the expensive side for what it offers. I'm sure it will last me for years but I feel like there may be better options for the price.

Could’ve been great…. Why no Phillips screwdriver? That’s a must for a multitool. Had to go back to my leatherman because of it.

I really like the concept, but the quality isn't quite there (Part of it, the screwdriver dislocated the knife when using it! But it was easy to put it back...). The tool is a bit big (too large) and it's missing (in my opinion) 2 or 3 little things like a metal sanding file, a star screwdriver, a tool for fire surviving... But the main cutting pliers are definitely a must. I'm waiting for version 2;)
