Very good

The button is a nice clicker made of a solid piece. Probably no water resistance, but you don't need that for the intended purpose. The button is a FORWARD clickie, so you can blink it momentarily. So many of these things are reverse types. The button also has enough spring feel and travel so you can do momentary blinks easily. The specs don't say how many lumens, but it appears to be no more than 5. This is how it ought to be for exams. There is a very thin and weak blue tint around the very outer edge of the beam, which happens with magnifier lens flashlights designed for a round beam due to refraction artifacts. The rest of the beam is a good warmish tint.Overall appearance and feel is good. It has a very fine and consistent texture. No grinds or lumps.Using only a single AAA instead of 2, it's short enough to clip where other penlights might be just barely too long. However, it is not quite as short as most single battery flashlights so it isn't fumbly. It's 4 inches, not counting the button sticking out. That's just enough for a normal hand to hold it in an overhand pinch type grip with the back end resting on the outside of your hand between thumb and index finger.

Definitely one of the best penlight

I have had multiple penlights. Medical LED pen light is one of the best I have had so far. It doesn’t hurt the eye as much as other LED pen lights - yet provides good illumination. Easy to carry, comes with a nice carry case. Best part is that it has a click switch at the back so dnt have to worry about accidentally switching it on in my bag.
Suggestion to the manufacturer- this is a great product. Next generation penlight please make the body a bit more robust. It would enhance its appeal and life. I would want to keep this penlight for all my rounds and physical.

It’s bright and the battery last longer.
I actually found this one being used by one of our doctors who happens to do lots of neurovasc check on patients, so I figure to buy the same thing and so far it is the best investment on pen light I ever made!

Excellent penlight

Packaging is excellent, big outer box, plastic encasing with a seat for the penlight. Battery is included and inside the penlight with plastic isolator. The penlight gives proper even lightspot, it did not hurt my eye, so a patient should be ok with it as well. The pupil size marker is there, however the numbers in mm are in tiny fonts, and might be difficult to read at a bedside, unless you memorized them.
I am very pleased with the purchase and planning to get few more for my colleagues.

Great Pen Light

I enjoy using this pen light. It provides a nice bright circle without any diffusing light around it. It also makes a great pocket-sized flashlight!

Solid construction ok on the brightness

Small compact and durable. I use this for rapid triage screenings. I’m getting older now and brighter light is a must. This is ok. The light casts a perfect circle of illumination on a posterior pharynx, and nothing more. So if exudate is beyond the “event horizon” you just can’t see it. No problem...just love the light. The light isn’t as bright as a light from my otoscope. It works just fine but I want a brighter light for my eyes. Will likely find another light until I get the real deal.

Solid Pen light

I have used many cheaper pen lights in nursing and really havent been WOWd. What could you expect from a penlight? I saw the Welch Alyn one for a funny amount of money and the bulbs apparently easily broke... this one, however, is solid. The price is just right, feels like good quality, uses AAA battery x1, not some random penny batteries, the light output isnt damaging, and the light border is defined and clear. Perfect tool to assess pupils and oral cavity. Love it

Good

Gave it to my friend who is a nurse and she likes it, so far I haven't heard her complain about it but she's only had it for 3 days, so I assume it's going to work well for her

Nice to have a small light like this to help look for little things that disappear in the carpet.

Excellent product. I bought it for being able to check my granddaughter when she complains of a sore throat and also to help my “older” eyes look for small items like pins, etc. on the carpeting. So far it works wonderfully!

Nice penlight, would buy again. (includes comparison to the Nextorch Dr. K3)

I have been using the Dr. K3 for almost 2 years, and really like it. WAY better than some of the cruddy penlights I've seen used around the hospital. So when I misplaced my Dr. K3 I figured I should get a backup. I saw that this model, Dr. K3s was (a) about half the price of Dr. K3 and (b) at the time of purchase, it had a 25% coupon. Seemed like a no brainer.
Look and feel:
The K3s is smaller (shorter by about 5/8"), and definitely feels less substantial. It is convenient that it has the pupil sizes on the side, as opposed to the original which had a ruler on the side (also functional, just the little circles are faster to compare).
The click on both is good. It feels more substantive on the K3--sounds cheaper on the K3s, but it could be that I've been using my K3 for a long time. At least on this version of the K3s, the button is loose and will definitely rattle around a bit.
Ultimately, the clip is what would prevent me from using the new model as my penlight. It will probably work just fine, but the clip on the original K3 is so nice that there's no comparison.
I contacted Nextorch to get the technical differences.
K3
Output: 4 lumens
Runtime: 15h
Weight: 38.5g
Water resistance: IPX7
K3s:
Output: 2 lumens
Runtime: 55h
Weight: 19.4g
Water resistance: IPX4
For me personally, I will continue to use the Dr. K3, but recognize that I am very particular about what lives in my scrub pocket.
