Nextorch has improved a lot in the last couple years of designing and improving their flashlight. P8 is such an example. Out the box, it feels very solid. Not much is mentioned about the led emitter used. A little search on internet showed that P8 is equipped with more current German made OSRAM P9 emitter. P9 emitter only comes in cool white light. The beam pattern is floody but with a deep orange peel reflector the light can reach a decent distance. The light is equipped with a built-in 2600mAh 18650 battery. The battery can be recharged through an USB-C port that is hiding under the screw reflector head.P8 has a unique 2 button design. The smaller one is dedicated to turn on the strobe function. The second bigger button controls the main function of the light. The user interface of the second button is simple yet disappointing. The half press button will produce momentary high mode. When the button is fully pressed it always turns on the constant medium mode. It doesn't have the last memory mode. So if you want constant high mode, then you have to cycle through each mode everytime. This is where I took a star off. I think it is really easy to have a choice of double clicking the button to activate the high mode.Overall, P8 is a strong competitor in quality among the hobbyist flashlights. But he user interface falls short, especially considering its price.

Likes:When it is first turned on it is in medium brightness, brightest is a little too bright in some situations.Strobe is a different button to push so you don't have to go through strobe mode when changing brightness.Lightweight, it doesn't add much weight to carry along, even fits in a pocket.Dislikes: a little to small of grip, in the dark I have to turn it around in my hand a few times to locate function buttons.Have to unscrew top to charge, USB charging port and my standard, centrally located go to USB-C charger with a long cord does not charge it. I have to change ot cords to get it to charge.

This is a sturdy metal flashlight with a 1300 lumen LED. It charges using an internal lithium battery that is not user replaceable. It comes with the flashlight, a USB-C charging cable and a wrist strap. The flashlight also has ceramic nubs on the top that can be used to break car glass. I did not test this feature. The flashlight has low, medium, and high brightness. A full click defaults to the medium brightness and I found this the most useable of the three options. The low is just too low for most uses and high is way too bright for many situations. It is easy to cycle between the three brightness settings with a partial click and it has a button for a strobe effect.Battery life is very good on low and medium, but you will only get 2 hours on the highest setting. Flashlight is very well made and feels like a quality item. It charges by unscrewing the top to access the USB port. There are cheaper options out there but this seems like a flashlight that can survive drops and last for a long time. The design seems to give it mild water resistance so it should be good for general outdoor use.

This is a nice flashlight in general. The build quality is nice and attention seems to be given to most details. I really like that the charge port is behind an O-ring. Which while I'm at it, if you're looking for the charge port, you have to unscrew the head of the flashlight to get to it. I'm not sure how I feel about the battery not being serviceable. I guess that it means that it is soldered in which means no relying on springs for a good connection. On the other hand, once the battery is bad, the whole light is done. The power buttons are honestly my biggest complaint. It's easy enough to get the strobe working. You just hit the tiny power button and you're in a disco. Getting the flashlight on to the power level you desire is a different story. I'm sure they feel like it's a good idea, but you have to initially turn the light on which will get you to the mid power level setting. Then you have to lightly press the button to get to the other light levels. I found it annoying and would rather just do a full click to to get to the desired power level. The light, compared to other lights I've tested, is decently bright. Plenty to walk around the woods. But it's really about the build quality on this one.

Good light, bright beam and has battery level indicator. I wish it had a tailcap button as well. Only thing I don't care for is that it is easy to hit the strobe button if you are not looking at which button you press
I haven't had this light long enough to really test its battery life or overall durability but it seems to be solid light coupled with its holster that easily clips on to a duty belt or other webbing options. It is a moderately inexpensive duty light and depending on the duties your job requires I think it would make really good backup light. Its missing a few features I desire in a primary torch but I didn't expect them in this light's price range. It does have a clever hidden charging port to plug in the provided USB.One downside, assuming I read it correctly, the battery is not user replaceable. It is a bright little handful of light and the dedicated strobe button is effective should you need the strobe function periodically. So I've used this light a little more and still think its decent but I've been told I can complain about anything so here I go. I accept that some of this could be me problems but I feel they are worth noting. In the handheld flashlight department most lights I've used in the last 20 years have had a tail cap switch. This light does not. I really feel like it would be a significant improvement. In line with the lack of a tail cap switch are the buttons on this light. They are small and sort of smooth with the body of the light. If I train myself better maybe I will improve my operation but in the dark I find them a bit difficult to locate. They are also in line with one another and almost by default I engage the strobe button first. Strobing is situationally a nice choice to have but not one I wish to activate by accident. Maybe I'll get better with more practice.I've not done this yet but I'm sure if I was wearing gloves and working in cold wet conditions this button issue would get worse for me.As dependent as I used to be on a flashlight working night shifts, at this point, I would not carry this light as a backup duty light. I still think its a well built, bright flash light for its size. I have uses for it but I wouldn't recommend it in this configuration as duty light. Just my opinion in my old hands. I'd not be shocked to hear others really love it.

Brightest flashlight i own. I have bought bigger and more exspensive lights but this is the best one by far. Especially for the price and compact size

It's a good quality torch, and everything works perfectly so far. My only criticism is that it's hard to feel/find the buttons in the dark, and the flashlights structure allows it to fall over with the possibility of rolling off a table.

I’m not a police officer, but I work long hours and I’m often the first to unlock buildings at my work to turn on the lights, so having reliable illumination that can be bright enough to also serve as a self defense asset is important.
The compact size makes pocket carry a breeze. I often carry a sturdy leather wallet in the same pocket and the P8 is still comfortable to carry and easy to retrieve without much of an issue. I carry it with the bezel down, but it doesn’t tear my pocket, or snag on the material. The lanyard makes for a fast retrieval and the the light is sleek enough not to knock my wallet out, when I pull it.
The controls are easy and make for very efficient operation of the controls. The strobe button just above the main operation button is very well thought out.
In short, I love this light and it’s a great choice for most people who want hassle free carry, while still being affective as a tactical flashlight.
Thank you, Wallace. We are glad to hear you like the P8 EDC light.
Great item, very bright, light weight!!!
