Frequently Asked Questions

The below FAQ covers a few of the questions we most often hear from our customers, if you have any questions we don't cover in this section feel free to shoot us an email at info@nextorch.com and we'll get back to you ASAP.

What is a Tactical Flashlight?

Our Tactical Flashlights are crafted from tough, durable, and lightweight aluminum; and are designed for professional use by law enforcement officers, military personnel, and security officers. Different from a run-of-the-mill torch, the ergonomics, user interface, and construction have all been designed around professional use in tactical situations. This includes powerful high modes to illuminate the operating environment and disrupt the vision of a potential attacker, tail switches for ease of use in high-stress situations and in conjunction with firearms, a strobe mode that can be used to disorient an assailant, and a robust metal casing that is both waterproof and shockproof.

How to select a flashlight?

When choosing the right flashlight, consider your needs first. If you're gearing up for outdoor adventures, tactical use, or just need a reliable light source around the house, the flashlight's features should match your purpose. Prioritize high brightness levels and a far-reaching beam for visibility in all conditions. Durability is key, so look for models made with tough materials like aircraft-grade aluminum. Opt for flashlights with extended battery life and compatibility with various battery types to ensure consistent performance. It's also essential to choose a model that's both water and impact-resistant. Remember, a lighter and more compact design makes for easier handling and portability. Features like multiple lighting modes, including strobe and SOS, can provide added functionality for emergencies.

How is my light powered?

Our lights are engineered for exceptional versatility and efficiency with many items featuring dual-fuel capability that allows them to operate with various battery types. This adaptability ensures you're never left in the dark, whether you're using readily available standard alkaline batteries or opting for the included rechargeable lithium batteries for their longevity and robust performance. This design ethos reflects our commitment to providing you with a dependable light source that adjusts to your needs without compromise.

How to maintain my light?

1)Wipe the flashlight off after use with a clean, dry cloth to remove any dirt or contaminants.
2)If the flashlight is contaminated with seawater or corrosive liquid, please wash it with clean water and blow it dry with a hair dryer.
3)To prevent battery drain and possible corrosion during long-term storage remove the battery and store in a cool, dry place.
4)Never use old and new batteries together, mix different brands of batteries, or mix Lithium and Alkaline batteries. Mixing of cells can result in dangerous battery leakage, damage, and sub-optimal device performance.
5)Do not put a working flashlight face down, this can burn the bulb or even start a fire.
6)If the tail cap sticks or doesn't rotate smoothly, apply a thin layer of silicone grease to the "O" ring.
7)Since lithium batteries self-discharge, it is recommended that they be recharged every 3 months even if you do not use your flashlight often.

Some interesting features, beam is meh

I'll start by saying I'm not a flashlight purist like some people so take my review for what it's worth as an average dude. This flashlight puts a strong emphasis on tactical. It's built like a tank. The body is all aluminum. It's got glass breaking beads on the tip should you need those. The tail end unscrews to remove the battery and the body has an o-ring to prevent water from getting in through the cap. It runs on a 2600mAh USB-C rechargeable battery that must be removed to charge. The switch is really the most interesting thing about this light. It's a detented rotary switch that has tactical, low, medium, high, and strobe settings. It's very easy to rotate the switch with the same hand that's holding the light assuming you are holding the light with the tail end near your thumb and index finger and light end near the bottom of your hand. In the tactical setting the light is actually off and you can turn it on with a momentary switch on the end of the cap. This basically means it's only on if you push the button and hold it. This mode is handy for quick use or to suddenly blind someone. Low, medium, and high settings are pretty self explanatory and on high this thing gets WARM. The cool thing about the low and medium settings on the dial is that pressing the momentary switch instantly switches brightness to high but again only if you keep it depressed. In high mode, if you press the momentary switch it goes into strobe mode and in strobe mode, pressing the momentary switch stops the strobe and keeps the beam on steady high. The combination of rotary and momentary switch gives a ton of options, but again this seems primarily aimed at tactical use. I can see law enforcement and security loving this thing. The light itself is very bright for the size and as I mentioned gets quite warm on high. I haven't run it to empty yet but I imagine it gets there pretty fast on high with a good amount of that power going to heat. The beam, in my opinion, is rather underwhelming. It's very bright in the center and decreases in brightness as you move radially out from center. This might be good for tactical usage, but for taking the dog out to potty it's kind of annoying. I'd personally rather have a beam where brightness is evenly distributed in the beam. I'm knocking off a star for this reason because there's just such a steep gradient in brightness between center and outer perimeter of the beam. The listing description says this is a tactical light and it absolutely is that. It's got plenty of options to illuminate your way and stun/blind threats. The rotary switch is pretty cool and provides a lot of quickly accessible flexibility in how the light can operate. If you're looking for a tactical light this is a good option. If you're looking for a rugged, general purpose light, I might not recommend this because of the beam and the heat it generates. Instead of keeping it in the house to take out the dog, I'll probably keep it in my vehicle as an emergency light/stun light for protection.

Strange controls on this flashlight

1600 lumens pumps out serious light but will get hot if used for long periods of time. The battery is directly rechargeable which is very nice and where modern flashlight offerings are headed (no more losing a proprietary charging brick.Ease of use - easy to use, spin the rear lock ring or press the button and see the light!Durability- likely standard water resistant against heavy rain just don't drop it on its tail capFit and finish - very nice military style black matte coating doesn't scratch easilyFunction - somewhat strange. The main button can't just click on the light it's only a momentary. To power on you need to spin the ring to select brightness / function.4/5

Small and Powerful EDC Tactical Flashlight

I have several small powerful torch lights but this one impressed me. It provides a different user interface and is super well made and bright.Pro’sBody is well made and the crown turns with a click to the desired brightnessFront of lens also serves as a glass break toolBack button allows fast selection of max brightness or strobe in emergency situationsIncludes Charging cable and wrist strapOnly one negative but this is subjective. The battery has a charging port for you must remove the battery and plug it in to charge, so there is no direct charging on the flashlight itself.

A Massive Upgrade – Totally Worth the Investment

I’ve never had a flashlight that cost more than $20 before, so getting the NEXTORCH TA30C was a big upgrade for me. But boy, it is so worth it! The difference in quality is night and day compared to the cheap plastic ones I’m used to. The 1600 lumens beam is incredibly powerful—it lights up my entire backyard instantly and throws the light way further than I expected. It feels super solid and durable in the hand, like a serious tool rather than a toy. One of my favorite things is how easy it is to use. The rotary dial for switching modes is smooth and intuitive, which is a nice change from fumbling with confusing buttons. The rechargeable battery is also a game-changer. Originally, I was planning on gifting this flashlight to my husband, but nope, I am keeping it for myself. Can’t wait for the camping season.

Perfect EDC Flashlight

I love this flashlight and have been using it daily since it arrived. It is the perfect size to put in a coat pocket and the attached clip will help keep it from falling out of a pocket or rolling off your workbench. The materials are of good quality with a durable, satin black finish. The different brightness levels are easily obtained by turning the rotary switch and the battery indicator is easy to understand and it recharges quickly. The push button is a two stage momentary model: Press it halfway for the highest brightness and depress it fully for the flashing white light. Releasing the button turns off either immediately. I have two complaints: the rotary switch was seized when it arrived and it took a lot to finally free it; however, it has worked perfectly since, and the battery must be removed to charge it. Regardless, neither complaint is enough for me to give this light anything less than five stars?

Simple, durable flashlight with great power and an easy UI. 18650 battery included or 2 CR123s.

I have dozens of name-brand flashlights, and I like each one for different reasons. Today’s flashlights have gotten so complex that it’s hard to remember what button does what on each model. I have a few Nextorch flashlights already, and they’ve all been very well made. This one is no different—it’s solid quality all the way around. This light has a long list of features you can read about on the page, but I’ll focus on what stands out to me. It runs on a standard 18650 battery or two CR123s. I’ve only used the included 18650, and it has plenty of power and capacity for its size. That allows the flashlight to stay compact enough to carry easily but still big enough to grip well. The clip is sturdy, and I have no concerns about it coming loose if I clip it to a pocket or bag. It also comes with a nice lanyard if you want to use that. What I like most is how simple the UI is. With a lot of modern lights, I find myself fumbling around in the dark trying to find the button, then cycling through a dozen modes before I get what I need. This one is not like that. The tail has an easy-to-feel rotating switch: low, medium, or high. Press the tail to turn high on. So if you just press the tail switch, you get light—simple. If you’re using it on low but need a quick blast of brightness, just press the tail switch and it jumps straight to high. It also has a strobe mode, but it’s not something you’ll turn on accidentally. Press the tail extra hard for strobe, or rotate the switch all the way over. The tail switch even lights up in different colors to show battery status, which is a nice touch. The beam has a good amount of throw with enough flood to be useful up close. You can see in the pictures that it puts out a surprising amount of light for its size. Overall, it’s a well-made, simple flashlight with everything you need and nothing you don’t.For the price, I think it’s a great value—and I could easily see this one lasting a lifetime.

1600 Lumens on my nightstand = robber’s worst nightmare

I keep the NEXTORCH TA30C on my nightstand in case someone breaks in. I’ve read that a super-bright light can blind a person long enough to get away or call 911, and this one really works. One press on the tail button and it’s 1600 lumens, bright enough to light up my whole bedroom. I tried it in a pitch-black room and couldn’t see anything for several seconds. The switch is silent and easy to find in the dark. No hunting for tiny buttons.Twist the ring once for strobe; it flashes so fast it’s dizzying. It came with the rechargeable battery and a USB-C cable. Charges in about 90 minutes. The strike bezel with the ceramic tips that can actually break car windows. Good escape tool if we ever have to leave through a window.Great tool for your go bag too for when the zombies ever show up! :-DOnly small things: After two minutes on high it steps down to medium so it doesn’t overheat. One click brings high back.I feel a lot safer knowing it’s there. Great light, fair price, 10-year warranty. Very happy with it!

I’m really impressed with the NEXTORCH TA30C EDC Tactical Flashlight—it’s become my go-to pocket light for everything from outdoor adventures to emergency use. The 1600 lumens output is genuinely bright and lights up trails, campsites, and dark corners with ease, and having five different lighting modes makes it super versatile for any situation. The rechargeable design is really convenient, and the build feels rugged and well-made, perfect for daily carry or tougher environments. It’s compact enough to fit comfortably in my pocket yet powerful enough to handle serious lighting needs. Overall, this flashlight delivers excellent performance and reliability whenever I need it!

IT COMES DOWN TO MY PERSONAL OPINION
A Reliable Companion for Everyday Use – Tactical Flashlight ?

Receiving the NEXTORCH TA30C through the Amazon Vine Program gave me an excellent opportunity to test this compact, high-performance flashlight for myself. While my reviews are inherently shaped by personal experience, I aim to be upfront about expectations. For me, a 5-star device requires a truly groundbreaking innovation or a performance that exceeds all predictions. The TA30C, while undeniably dependable, falls into the "satisfactory but not transformative" category—hence my 4-star rating. That said, it’s a solid tool that delivers on its promises, and I’m confident many users will appreciate its value.Performance & DesignThe TA30C shines bright—literally. With a maximum output of 1600 lumens and a beam distance reaching 303 meters, this flashlight is no slouch. Its compact size (5.35 inches long) and lightweight design (3.42 oz without batteries) make it easy to carry in a pocket or attach to gear, striking a balance between portability and power. The five lighting modes—ranging from high (1600 lm) to low (20 lm), plus strobe and a tactical momentary-on feature—add practicality for varied scenarios, from outdoor adventures to emergency situations.Durability & VersatilityBuilt to withstand the unexpected, the TA30C boasts IPX8 waterproofing (up to 2 meters) and a drop-resistant frame, thanks to its hard-anodized aircraft-grade aluminum construction. The standout feature? Its ceramic bead head, capable of breaking glass in a pinch—a useful defense or emergency window-clearing tool. Though I wouldn’t test this myself, the design suggests it’s well-intended for critical moments.Accessories & UsabilityThe package includes a USB charging cable, which is a convenient plus (no extra purchase needed). Additional accessories like the FR-1 tactical ring and V6 quick-draw holster (not included but compatible) enhance its tactical appeal, allowing for hands-free use or faster access during high-stakes tasks. While I found the holster a bit unessential for casual use, it’s a thoughtful addition for those prioritizing specialized needs.VerdictThe TA30C is, at its core, a tool that does exactly what it says on the tin. It’s not revolutionary, but it’s dependable, well-constructed, and reasonably priced for its capabilities. The only minor gripe? For the cost, I’d appreciate slightly more premium styling or an expanded tactical feature set—though that’s a personal preference rather than a flaw. If you seek a no-frills flashlight that performs reliably in both everyday and demanding situations, the TA30C earns a strong recommendation. While it may not ignite a love affair with gear enthusiasts, it certainly deserves a four-star nod for quality and practicality.Note: Disclosed: This product was provided for free through the Amazon Vine Program in exchange for an honest review.

SMALL AND BRIGHT

I don't really need a "tactical" flashlight, and certainly not a $90 dollar one, but this is nice. This flashlight is small and sturdy, but heavy for the size. It is very bright. It is intuitive to use, which is good because the instructions are pretty minimal. You do need to charge the battery. I have no idea hoe long it lasts, but there is a recharge indicator. Nice flashlight, but on the expensive side.

makes a great gift!

I ordered this as a gift for my son. He was complaining about the flashlights we have around the house. This one is bright, has a long visibility range, multiple settings, survives when dropped, charges via usb-c instead of multiple batteries. He loves the belt clip that lets him keep the flashlight on his belt or pocket when not in use. The quick-on feature when you press the button is really neat, too. It functions just as described in the details.

Bright, Tough, and Almost Perfect

This flashlight really shines in the best way. The beam is powerful, the modes are easy to switch through, and the build feels ready for anything. I took it through a full week in the Grand Canyon and it handled every challenge without a flicker. The ceramic strike tip is a surprising bonus and the overall design feels polished and practical. The only thing that kept this from a full five stars is the price. It performs like a champ, but your wallet will feel the intensity too. Still, if you want a light that can go the distance and then some, this one definitely earns a spot in your pack.

Very good pocketable flashlight that performs as promised.

I won't list the features shown here or on Nextorch's webpage.During testing, I ran it continuously overnight for several hours. It met or exceeded the manufacturer’s stated battery life. After recharging, I set both lights to low power and monitored how long it would last before running out. The result showed that it operated for over two full days. Additionally, it was subjected to 4-foot drops and submersion in 2-foot-deep puddles.$100 might sound expensive for a flashlight, but it is built like a tank, and you do get the full 1600 lumens. For a brighter tactical flashlight, consider the MAX that features 3000 lumens. But, for my purposes, this one fits the bill.⭐️1 star — I don't recommend it at all, poor quality.⭐️⭐️ 2 stars — I don't recommend it: has multiple faults, or a very high price.⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 stars — It's passable: it has some faults, but the quality is ok for what it is.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 stars — Product quite acceptable, and it does what it promises.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars — Product that I totally recommend.

Great torch/flashlight.

A medium push turns the light on, a stronger push creates a strobing effect. If you want it to stay on, turn the wheel - several brightness levels available. It's very bright to blind an aggressor. Feels solid and tight.USB-c charging port is on the battery itself, so it needs to be removed. Not a fan of this design but it probably saves on cost.

Small, mighty, and seriously bright

This has become my favorite flashlight. It is tiny enough to fit easily in your pocket, but it throws real light. The 1600 lumen burst is no joke and reaches a long way. Use caution with close-up work—the glare bouncing off a wall or grill lid is intense and will wash your vision for a second if you are not ready. What I like:* Easy to run one handed. The quiet tail switch gives momentary on and the rotary ring makes it simple to move through high, medium, low, and strobe. I can get the mode I want without thinking about it.* Build quality. The body feels solid with clean machining. It has lived in a tool bag and on night walks and shows almost no wear. Rated IPX8 and drop proof to 2 meters is exactly what I want for real use.* Beam and throw. Good center spot with useful spill. It lights up a backyard easily and can tag reflective street signs way down the block.* Size to output ratio. At about 5.35 inches and just over 3 ounces (no battery), it disappears until you need it, then punches way above its weight.* Practical extras. Comes with a Type C cable and lanyard. The strike bezel is ceramic and will break glass in an emergency.Notes and tips:* This is extremely bright. Expect harsh bounce-back indoors. I keep it on medium for close tasks and save turbo for distance or outdoors.* Heat is normal at high output. It ramps down as expected to protect itself.* Accessories like the tactical ring and quick holster are available if you want a duty setup.

Solid feeling flashlight.

Lots of good features and only a couple negatives. This Flashlight feels good in my hand, and clips nicely to my pocket. The problem is that the flashlight can be inadvertently turned on. I can't keep it DEEP in a pocket as I'm active and the light can be flipped on and get hot. The clip keeps the switch out of the pocket and less likely to get switched on. I REALLY like rechargeable flashlights. I've had good luck with the ones I have. This one, you have to pull the battery out to charge it. Not a big deal. The battery has a port right on it with an LED light to let you know when it's max'd out. The good news is that you don't have a rubber flap on the outside of the flashlight to protect the port. These generally fail.
